Julian's Dinosaur Party at the Natural History Museum

Like most boys his age, JD loves dinosaurs but we can honestly only credit this love for dinosaurs to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles! We began visiting the museum with him in 2010 and became members soon after; we haven’t stopped visiting it since. When the Dinosaur Hall opened last year JD became completely fascinated with dinosaurs and fossils. There isn't a week that goes by that he doesn't ask to go to the “Dino Museum.” So, when the time came to plan his 3rd birthday party we knew dinosaurs would be the theme. When we found out the NHM of Los Angeles had a birthday party program, we didn’t have to think twice about the location.

The Natural History Museum's birthday party program is really great! They provide everything you need to throw an amazing dinosaur party, everything but the food and cake! The program even provides event assistants (really awesome assistants) to help you run your party and direct all the activities and games. All your party guests also get admission to the museum for the day!

Julian had no idea his 3rd birthday party was going to be at his favorite museum, when he arrived and saw the balloons and decorations, the expression on his face was priceless! JD and his friends had such a great time. They played "Tyrannosaurus Says", Pin the Horn on the Triceratops, they made dinosaur masks and their very own fossils.  I have to admit that this party was amazingly stress free thanks to the help of our very supportive family, the wonderful staff at the Natural History Museum, and especially Kersti Kooiman.  Kersti not only helped me decorate, but she is also the incredible photographer behind these amazing pictures of JD and his dinosaur party!

Dinosaur Birthday Party Invitation

I'm so excited, JD's 3rd birthday and dinosaur birthday party are less then a month away! I don't plan on posting too many party details until after his party (I want to keep an element of surprise), but I did want to share a few photos of the invitations. I love making invitations and feel that they should make the person receiving it feel excited and enthusiastic about attending the party! I started designing the invites a few months ago and once all the supplies came in, they were not only easy but so fun to create. Here's a sneak peek!

Dinosaur Shirts by Vicarious Clothing

With JD's birthday only a few months away I've started looking for his 3rd birthday, birthday party shirt! Every year we buy him a themed birthday shirt and after his birthday I tuck it away for safe keeping. This year his birthday theme is dinosaurs, so I've been on the hunt for the perfect dino shirt. I've come across a lot of really cool ones, but I've falling in love with these fun shirts from Vicarious Clothing.   I'm thinking that the "CARNIVORE" one suits JD, that is unless they come out with a "OMNIVORE" one in time for his birthday!

Dinosaur Party Ideas

With JD's 3rd birthday coming up in May I've been pinning party ideas like crazy! This years theme is Dinosaurs! JD loves dinos and every time I come home with a dinosaur item he immediately says “That's for my dino party”! This year we’re doing things a little differently and I'm really excited for JD; he has no idea what we have in store for him! Here are a few of my favorite pins, but if your looking for more dinosaur party ideas please visit my entire board here.
