Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon

Julian wanted to be Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon for Halloween this year. I really enjoy making JD's Halloween costumes, so I was definitely up for the challenge.

To make JD's costume I purchased brown fur fabric to make his vest. I used left over strips of the same fur fabric and sewed them on to a pair of brown suede boots. I couldn't find just the right shirt, so I purchased a girls long sleeve shirt at Ross on clearance and dyed it olive green (I also dyed an old pair of pants). I added a little slit to the shirt and crisscrossed suede cord for our little viking. While searching for ideas online I found and purchased Hiccup's Battle Pack Set from 2009 on Ebay and voilĂ  JD's costume was complete!

Circus Inspired Toys at IKEA

I'm a huge fan of IKEA and I'm always in awe of the super cute and inexpensive designs that I come across on my monthly (sometimes weekly) visits! Last week I stopped by the children's department of IKEA and came across their new line of circus inspired toys. Most of them are so new I couldn't even find them online, but I assure if you stop by your local IKEA you will not be disappointed. These toys are not only a great addition to a circus or carnival inspired party, but a great addition to any child's toy collection!

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension

The countdown to Phineas and Ferb The Movie has begun at our house! Phineas and Ferb is JD's favorite cartoon and I am not ashamed to admit that our whole family loves watching it too, so when we heard that a Phineas and Ferb movie was being released we were all so excited. Although there is a sneak peek today (On Demand) we plan on waiting until Friday to have a Phineas and Ferb Movie Night! If you plan on having your own movie night, stop by Target. They have tons of cool Phineas and Ferb items in their dollar section!
Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension will premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, August 5 at 8:00pm ET/PT, with a sneak On Demand preview beginning on August 1.

Roadmaster Trike

On Sunday after a very filling Father's Day dinner, we took a walk around the block and on the curb in front of our neighbors house we saw this little red tricycle, JD's eyes immediately lit up and he yelled "bicycle"! The trike was in pretty good shape (it's missing one pedal and a hubcap), so I wasn't sure if they were throwing it out, or if it was left behind by a forgetful child. I knocked on the neighbors door to ask if they were getting rid of it and luckily for us they were! We lugged the little trike home and JD loves it,  I'm hoping we can fix it this weekend and start showing JD how to ride it!

DIY LEGO Table

A couple of weeks ago when I took JD to his first dentist appointment we ran into a small little problem, JD didn't want to leave the office waiting room! He was absolutely enthralled with their LEGO table and threw a fit when it was time to go home. Well that afternoon I decided to Google LEGO tables and was so disappointed to see they were any where from $80-$300! A few days later (after JD kept mentioning "LEGO, Dentista") I Googgled how to make a LEGO table and you'll never guess what popped up, IKEA Hackers LACK LEGO Table and I was immediately inspired to make JD his very own LEGO table. Here is how I did it.

Materials:
  • IKEA LACK Side Table $9.99 (my mom actually had one laying around the house)
  • LEGO Duplo Green Building Plate (15" X 15") $16.99
Things we had around the house:
  • Earthquake Putty
  • Two Wall Hooks
  • Liquid Nails Adhesive
  • Two Tin Buckets
I attached the LEGO base plate to the table with Earthquake Putty
then attached 2 hooks to the bottom of the table with liquid nails adhesive
and once the liquid nails adhesive dried (1 hour to dry, 8 hours to cure) I placed one bucket on each hook and filled them with Duplo LEGOS
He loves it!

Mr. "Pa-Pa" Head

We bought JD a Mr. Potato Head for Christmas and he absolutely loves him, whenever he misplaces him he asks “Onsta (Donde) Pa-Pa” which means where's the potato? For a while we just thought he was asking for daddy (he calls daddy Papa too) but we eventually caught on! Well, yesterday I stopped by Ross during my lunch, just to browse of course and came across not one but three Mr. Potato Heads with over 40 accessories* and as you may have guessed by now I couldn’t help but to buy them for JD; now when his friends come over everyone has their own Mr.“Pa-Pa” Head to play with.

Tubby Tater

Officer Spud
Dr. Mrs. Potato Head

*Officer Spud and Dr. Mrs. Potato Head came in a set with over 35 accessories for $14.99. Tubby Tater came as shown for $6.99.

Yo Gabba Gabba Bath Squirters

Last week I ordered these super cute Yo Gabba Gabba bath squirt toys for JD and they finally came in the mail! I received a text message from hubby yesterday letting me know that I got a package from Amazon, I told him he could open it and sure enough the minute JD saw YGG he went crazy (according to hubby), he loved them. Well, when I got home last night I asked JD if he liked his YGG squirt toys (that mommy got him) and he said “UmHmmm”, oh and then proceeded to tell me his “Papa” got them for him; now I know, he who opens the box gets the credit!

Squeeze 'em! Fill 'em! Squirt 'em! Yo Gabba Gabba Bath Time Squirters! Includes all 5 characters.

So many toys, so little time...

JD received so many awesome gifts this Christmas; I really thought he would have maybe one or two favorites but it seems that he loves them all and hasn't stopped playing with them since, he was even excited about pajamas!
