the mommy's new Dutch Oven

For Christmas my in-laws gave me a gift I had secretly desired for some time now, a Dutch oven; I had a chance to use it this weekend and I’m hooked. I'm really looking forward to putting my new Dutch oven to good use and hope to share some of my favorite recipes with you. Stay tuned!

Tramontina 6.5-Qt Dutch Oven

What is a Dutch Oven?
A Dutch oven is a thick-walled iron (usually cast iron) cooking pot with a tight-fitting lid. It is used for the preparation of stews, braises, and pot-roasts, basically the perfect pot for slow cooked meals.

  1. This is TOOOOO crazy!! I am not kidding you!!I was going to blog today (I didn't have time unfortunately) about purchasing my next kitchen essential! A french oven, by Le Creuset (that's what they call them). LOL...Who is your dutch oven by??

  2. Le Creuset’s are really nice (leave it to the French to name it a “French Oven”), but a little pricey for my budget! I think mine is from Sam’s Club, It’s a Tramontina 6.5 quart, it has great reviews and it was rated a “best buy” by Cook’s Illustrated too.

  3. That one is nice too! I've actually been tempted to buy that one, while I save my pennies for the Le Creuset...it IS pricey! When I told hubby the price, he said "what the *&%#*!!!"...LOL
